    Description

    Nice Vintage Millers Falls No. 9 Smooth Hand Plane in good usable condition. There is tarnishing on the steel and some nicks and scrapes. The beautiful wooden handle and knob also have some dings and damage but could be restored. This tool is made of heavy cast iron, steel, brass and wood. It weighs about 3 pounds, 11 ounces.  The overall length is about 9-3/8", height of 5-1/4", width 2-3/8" with a 2" blade. The blade has  small chips at one corner and another about 5/8" from that corner, they can be seen in the pictures. It has a unique double jointed lever cap. This clamping lever for planes has a patent number on it, 1822520, by Charles Fox for the Millers Falls Company in 1931. It was designed to clamp the center of the blade as well as the ends to hold it more firmly  throughout its length. See pictures for more details.
