Description
This high quality professional grade Japanese blade was made for akanna
plane, the mainstay of the Japanese
daikusan
(carpenter) c. 1950's. It was made by the Japanese master blade maker
(see signature mark pictures 2, 3, & 4)
of laminated hand forged steel with the same process as is used to make traditional Japanese samurai swords.
You can actually see the layers of lamination between the different types of high carbon steel in the blade (see enlarged pictures).
Once you have used a Japanese
kanna
plane you will never go back to the western plane. With exception of minor signs of past use
,
it remains
razor sharp
and in
very good condition
,
A truly fine vintage blade still having
generations of life for its next masters. The blade measures 2 3/4" (7 cm) wide. Old world craftsmanship for the new world craftsman!
