    Description:
    This sale is for the Stanley Rule & Level Co.  No. 9 5/8 Type 1 Tailed Block Plane pictured.  No such thing you say.   Read on.
    More than a 9 1/2, but not all there and too different to be a 9 3/4.   What is here has a great look and some rare parts.  Some would call it a prototype and add a 1 to the price.  I'll just go with a 1 of.  The type 1 lever cap and tail are proper from a  Stanley type 1 9 3/4.   That is what you are paying for.  The rest looks to have originated or been worked on a long, long time ago.  Different  & nice.
