    Description

    Stanley no. 7 plane, repaired.
This Stanley type 11 no. 7 has three patent dates (MAR 25-02, AUG 19-02, APR 19-10) and plenty of battle scars. The tote’s upper edge has chipped off, the left side of the rail has been repaired with what looks like brass welding. The throat on the smooth bottom has a 5/8” crack that leads to the repaired section. There’s another crack on the other side of the throat, about 3/8”. The back of the plane’s body must have broken off, and the rear section behind the tote has been shortened and refurbished. The length is now 17 11/16”, noticeably shorter than an undamaged no. 7. The frog is adjustable and milled flat. The cutting iron is sharp but runs 6 1/8”. The small brass depth adjustment knob turns freely and the lateral adjustment lever has a tight movement. Original japanning at about 75%. Let’s call it a functional vintage Stanley that’s been through the wood wars. If you feel like taking down a rough piece of hardwood, this plane will still work. PayPal and USA only orders please. Thanks for looking and email if you’d like to see different pictures.
