    Description

Plane is functionally sound. Body casting is free of cracks and chips. Tiny chip in the toe of the frog. Most external parts (not ground surfaces) have been touched by spray paint, done for job site identification I assume—not by me. Tote horn has been dinged off. Very light rust. Check the photos; they show the condition and are part of the description. They include the signifiers of type as well.
I've owned this plane for forty-five years and used it very little, partly because I left carpentering more than thirty years ago. It came to me as payment for rehanging a door and fixing a window in a rental in San Francisco in 1975. It was a surprise, and I was not pleased, but that is in the past, and I am sure that guy has gone to his reward.
There is a name lightly set into the left side. I have other vintage planes with owner's names from long ago.  I like that because it is part of the story of the plane having been important to a craftsman's earning a living. This plane was probably made in the first decade of the 20th century. The fact that the cutting iron is well-shortened suggests that the plane had been used a great deal by someone doing serious architectural work.
The price has been set to try to keep the plane out of the hands of flipping gorillas who "restore" planes with wire wheels and belt sanders.  I'm hoping someone who wants it for his or her collection or for use will buy it, gently fettle it and keep it.
Shipping to the contiguous 48 states, including the Global Shipping Program, is included in the price. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, please inquire first.
