    Description

    This listing is for a vintage Stanley No. 3 type 18 (1946 - 1947) smooth plane.  The plane was disassembled, given a light cleaning to check condition and then reassembled.
    The factory japanning is largely intact with a just a few small areas missing.  The casting is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.  The tote and knob are both painted black, typical of a type 18 plane.  The tote is solid with no obvious cracks, but the knob does have a hairline crack as shown in the picture.  Both the tote and knob tighten securely.  This has the y-shaped frog receiver which was phased in during the type 18 years according to the typical online resources.
