    Description

    An ORIGINAL TONGUE CUTTER CAP IRON AND SCREW for a Stanley No. 148 double tongue and groove plane by STANLEY. This black japan finished version would have been produced during the Second World war when nickel plating was essentially unavailable. The original tension screw and the screw to secure the cap to the plane body are included with the cap. These caps were particularly susceptible to breakage as they would crack at the tip when excessive tension was applied by the tensioning screw.
