    Description

    An ORIGINAL 1/4 INCH SIZE TONGUE CUTTING IRON for a Stanley No. 50 combination plane by STANLEY. This cutter was one of two cutters added in 1902. This is the early style and does not have the milled grooves in the back to engage the depth of cut adjustment lever introduced in 1936. The top of the iron is imprinted with the date of the February 19, 1884 U.S. Patent for the adustable stop on this iron that was issued to prolific Stanley inventor Justus A. Traut.
