I have been asked several times how and where I got these amazing and rare cartoon posters. I received a call way back in 1988 from one of my customers in Italy. He had discovered a closed Theater Exchange in Rome Italy and found some boxes of posters. In the old days, all theater posters were originally sent to a Theater E
xchange, which would keep possession and track of all movie reels and all theater display posters (and lobby cards) for the various film companies. The Exchange would rent them to the various theaters (never sold them) along with the movie reel. At the end of the rental term, both movie reel and posters were returned to the Exchange, where they again be rented to the next theater in line, and so on, until the film was out dated. At that point the films were returned to the respective studios and the worn posters were usually destroyed, which is why nearly all animation posters prior to 1970 are quite rare.
Italian animation posters are exceptionally rare and quite colorful compared to the very few USA counterparts. Actually, while Italy loved the Disney, Warner Brothers & MGM cartoons, and made some fantastic theater lobby posters, there were no American made posters for these cartoons. So what I am selling are exceptionally rare posters.
