John Cox (UC) - Circa 1780 - Birmingham, Eng - Raised Panel Plane - Complete -EC

A beautiful 18th century English (Birmingham) panel raising plane by John Cox. This is an "uncommon" maker as well as an uncommon plane. I would hazard a guess that there is not many of these out there - it is certainly the only one I have seen in forty years of tool buying/collecting. I did have another Cox plane, but it was a very common moulder and not in this condition either. Complete and in great condition - there is a small chip out of the top of the tote and a drying crack to the end of the body, which certainly is common. All in all and considering its age, I feel this plane is in fine condition. I did nothing to it except to wipe it off and give it a light waxing.
