Fiestaware Ring Handled Coffee Mug (Plum) # 1442

Description

This is a contemporary, Art Deco style Fiestaware ring handled mug, in their dark purple glaze (I think that this color is known as Plum). These mugs are also referred to as "Tom and Jerry Mugs". Fiestaware began showing up on kitchen tables in 1936 and ended production in 1973, and then in 1986 began production again. Fiestaware is made in the USA by the Homer Laughlin Co., all in all, they've had a very interesting history, and make other lines of serving ware as well.  This mug is in wonderful, used condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or staining. Fiestaware is know for it's attractive colors and durability. I have it as my serving set, and in all the years that I've smacked it against sinks and counters, there have been no chips or cracks. The only fatality was a cereal bowl that I dropped on a porcelain floor. This mug measures 3.5" in height and a bit more than 3.5" across the top opening.
