EASTERLY & CO., NY, No. 95 ROSEWOOD Plow Plane & Fence with Boxwood Screw Arms & Nuts
.
John Easterly had a convict labor contract at the Auburn Prison, NY and made planes there for only 2 years (1866-67) !! His planes have a rarity rating of 2 STARS, and this being a Rare ROSEWOOD plane you are looking at a very rare plane. The average cabinetmaker / carpenter could not afford these planes so only a few Rosewood planes were manufactured.
The toe of the plane has the maker's mark. The heel is marked No. 95.
The Plane is in
Very Good 'used tool' condition with only minor wear from use (probably used by a Gentleman woodworker !)
. BEAUTIFUL ROSEWOOD !! The Boxwood arms have only a couple of minor thread chips. The nuts move well on the arms. There is a very nice working
brass and steel depth stop with locking feature. The Brass and Steel skate is in very good condition. The plane comes equipped with one 7/16" wide cutting iron. The
plane is approx. 8"L, and the fence is approx. 9" L. The arms are approx. 10
" long. There are NO owner stamps. No cracks, breaks or repairs.
A very Nice RARE ROSEWOOD plow plane from a RARE Maker !!
Historical Note:
There is an original ink Fountain pen note on one of the Boxwood arm supports !!
