    Description

    An original EARLY STYLE FRONT KNOB for a Stanley No. 3 or 603 plane or their corrugated sole equivalents. The early type knobs are approximately one-half inch shorter than the knobs introduced in the 1920's. This Brazilian Rosewood example, which came from a "Type 11" version of the No. 3 plane, is in excellent condition, noting a very small chip at the base. The knob is equally divided between heartwood and sapwood , with a demarcation line in the center. The original threaded rod and brass nut to secure the knob to the plane body are included as well.
