I am selling all of my BCTW tools as I am downsizing.  All of the tools have been stored in an air-conditioned home while I have owned them.  Some may have tarnish on the brass, which is easily removed.  However, I will leave tarnish removal to the seller as some prefer the natural look of tarnish and some prefer to remove it with polish.

    Quick Overview
Tool making as an art has never been more obviousthan the form and function of the CT-17 Dual Angle Block Plane. Thisbeautifully crafted, solid stainless steel plane has several distinguishingfeatures making it one of the most interesting products in our twenty-sevenyear history.
The Commemorative Tool series is an extraordinarycollection of tools and the CT-17 Dual Angle Block Plane is a welcome editionto its preceding sixteen siblings.

    Product Description
With this plane we have pioneered a new way to builda block plane which allows for an A-2 steel iron with dual edges; one groundprimarily for end grain (42 degree attack angle) and for general purpose use(47 degree attack angle). We believe the CT-17 Dual Angle Block Plane is themost versatile block plane available today—one plane body with one iron equalstwo planes.
Inspired by the efficiencies of helicoptercomponents, John Economaki has designed a plane that is both a pleasure to useand an inspiration to behold—each component has been carefully reduced to itsessential functional form creating a plane that will work right out of the boxand is unlike anything you have ever used.
Foremost is the ability to switch from a low-angleblock plane to a regular block plane in seconds. Whether you are spaceconstrained or hampered by challenging wood grain, the CT-17 is the most versatileblock plane made today—it is both a low angle block plane and a regular blockplane.
The quick action blade clamp we pioneered with theintroduction of the HP-7 Shoulder Plane makes for an unusually practical planedesign ergonomically. By eliminating the traditional cross pin found in mostantique and contemporary metal bodied planes, we were able to design the bodyto fit mature hands of all sizes. In addition, there are two possible locationsfor the index finger to rest, traditionally atop the front tote, and in thecase of the CT-17, directly behind the cutting edge on the blade clamp. It isthe latter that we believe you will find a joy to use—it is specifically shapedto fit an index finger.
Borrowing from the innovative VP-60 blind rear soleplate we introduced in 2005, the CT-17 front sole is also blind, allowing thenose of the body to remain unfettered visually by concealing the leading edgeof the throat plate. The solid stainless steel front tote serves both anergonomic and mechanical need. The throat plate is locked with a cam lockmilled into the base of the tote and self-locks in use. To change the throatopening you simply pull up on the nose of the tote, adjust the opening and pushthe tote forward to lock. Tote inclination and cam pressure are all easilyadjustable to fit whatever you deem most comfortable. No tools are required nordo you need significant hand strength to work this mechanism. The front totealso rotates which is handy when the plane is used with two hands. It caneasily pivot to adapt to the angle of a finger or thumb making the CT-17 one ofthe most comfortable planes you have ever used.
The CT-17 Dual Angle Block Plane features anintegral aluminum blade guard. While the blade is in the plane body, thenon-business end of the iron is safely protected—as are your hands. When theiron is removed for sharpening, the blade guard is secured to the opposite endwith rare-earth magnets making the double edged iron as safe as single edgeirons. When the iron is bedded it is firmly clamped in place with a floatingiron cap. There is zero need to true the cap planar to the iron. Cap tension isadjustable. Opening and closing this mechanism is simply fun. In use, the ironis adjusted with a modified Norris mechanism allowing for extremely fine bladeadvancement—one full revolution of the lead screw changes depth of cut by.03mm/.0013”. Skewing the blade is accomplished by leveraging the sleek leadscrew “knob” either left or right. We believe this little plane may be one of themost fun tools you will ever own.
Like all Commemorative Tools, we only will make themonce. And as a gesture of good luck, buried in the body of each CT-17 is a U.S.penny—it is a symbol of gratitude and a tangible gesture that celebrates therelationship we share with our customers who make this all possible. "It mustbe useful. It must work dependably. It must be beautiful. It must last. It mustbe the best of its kind.”
