    Description

    Here we have a clean
Antique SIEGLEY No. 6C Corrugated Bottom Fore Smooth Plane.
Jacob Siegley was a planemaker operating in Wilkes-Barre, PA from 1884 -1908.  Stanley bought out Siegley's plane business around 1901-1905 (depending on which researcher you want to believe).  Stanley then began making the Siegley pattern bench planes that were casted with 'SIEGLEY' and the plane number in the bed and the irons were stamped 'SIEGLEY'. All moving parts operate smoothly. The japanning is at 85-90%. The original wood Tote still has the gunstock 'checkering' on the sides.  The original low Knob has a stable tight crack on one side.  Both handles do have minor scratches, nicks and stains from use. (Please see pics)
    .
The cutter adjusting knob is the small brass version.  The body, sole and mouth are in good clean condition with a few nicks, pits, scratches, and darkened areas here and there.  The body is identified in the bed as noted above. The lever cap is the 'early' type with height adjusting screws and patent marked large adjusting knob. The 2-1/4" wide single cutting iron is correct and marked SIEGLEY.  The blade is sharp but should be touched up before use. No cracks, breaks or repairs in the body.  Plane is 17-3/4" Long. Plane weighs approx. 4.5 lbs., unpacked.
