    Description

This sale is for an antique solid brass Stanley No 5 reproduction plane. The only thing on this plane that says Stanley is the blade and the chip breaker says L Bailey'S PATENT DEC 24, 1867. The rest of the plane is not Stanley. The base lever cap and frog are all made of solid brass. I have tried for years to find information on this plane and I just cant. The plane works but not like a true Stanley No. 5. I am selling it for someone who wants something very odd in there collection. Please if you have any information on this plane let me know. It could be a Bailey cast before Stanley but I dont know. Maybe I will learn from this auction. I tried to make as many photos as possible. You can see in the photos of this plane beside a number 5 Stanley and both bases are almost identical, THE NO 5 STANLEY IS NOT IN THIS SALE IT IS JUST FOR DEMONSTRATION. I hope to learn something about this plane. It would be beautiful if it was polished. The front knob has a slight chip out of the bottom on the back side, the blade is marked STANLEY and has light surface rust. The Chip Breaker is marked L. BAILEY'S PATENT 1867. Please view my other items. I do accept returns if you are not satisfied. Item must be returned the way received. You will receive the brass plane only in this purchase. This item has no reserve. Thanks
