    Length: 9-1/2".
    Beech
    Toe is stamped "SWETMAN" and "& HUGHES" (light stamp).
    Heel is stamped "2"
    Fence attached to side of sole with 3 slotted screws.
    Wedge is sheared.
    Rounded chamfers.

    , who advertised its opening on May 18, 1818, in Pittsburgh, Pa. The firm was listed in the 1819 Pittsburgh, PA directory. Among its employees listed in the directory was
    Samuel H. Richardson
    ,
    Thomas Clark
    , and
    Benjamin King
    , who later became planemakers. On Jan 17, 1820,
    Swetman & Hughes
    was dissolved by mutual consent as insolvent.

    was listed in the 1820 Cincinnati OH census.
    Swetman
    left for Montreal, Canada by 1825;
    Hughes
    was listed through 1831; and
    King
    was listed through 1844.
