The plane was obtained from a collector’s estate sale, where it was well cared for, exact era is unknown.
This is a vintage EVERKEEN wood plane, sold by the J. P. H. Co. The Company was known as the John Prizlaff Hardware Company located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The company logo trade mark was EVERKEEN. I believe the company was in business from the 1850’s through 1959. Through resources, I believe most of their tools were made by Stanley, Sargent, Ohio Tool Co. and other like companies.
I believe this plane was made by the Ohio Tool Co., prior to the 1920’s. Some of the characteristics of the Ohio plane and this plane are: The tapered iron, handle screws, twisted lateral level, design of blade adjustor knob, rear tote small screw hole design and the sole mount,… we are not 100% you be the judge.
The plane is stamped on the blade
EVERKEEN
.
The plane is 22" long and has a 2 7/8" wide base, and is approx. 5 1/4" high, near like the Stanley No7.
The blade is 2 3/8" wide and 7 15/16” long. The blade adjustor knob is 1” (most plane companies changed to a 1 1/4” knob in early 1920)
The plane has been lightly cleaned and is in good condition, I don’t believe the blade was ever sharpened---I touch it up a little….. The sole was stripped and repainted…..and the wood knob and tote was refinished……
A
s with the vintage of the plane, there is some normal used wear, few surface scratches, dings, and some discoloration, and some pitting marks on sole,……. all as noted from the photos.
The plane is
SOLD AS IS with NO RESERVE
