    Description

Scott Catalog 242, with an inverted surcharge "1" in red and a "POST PAYEE" overprint in blue.  The blue is probably the Type 1 overprint.
Of the major Haitian catalog numbers #242 is the second most valuable Haitian stamp after #176.  The inverted surcharge makes this rarer still.
This stamp is the Perf. 13 1/4 variety.  It is original gum with a hinge remnant.  It has 2 tone spots at right as seen in the scans.  It also has two perfs that are thinned at top.  These show in the second scan.
