1928 Haiti FFC - West Indian Aerial Express - Haiti to Santiago de C**a

Description

An attractive first flight cover flown by West Indian Aerial Express from Port Au Prince, Haiti to Santiago de C**a. Franked with Haiti Scott #316, the 10 centimes Christophe's Citadel stamp and #318, the 50 centimes President Louis J. Borno stamp, both from 1924. Both are tied to the cover by a Port Au Prince, Haiti postmark dated February 21, 1928. There is a boxed three line hand stamp: "PRIMER VIAJE AEREO", "C**A, HAITI, SANTO DOMINGO, PTO.RICO", Aeroplane "Santa Maria". Large three line hand stamp in blue: "WEST INDIAN AERIAL EXPRESS IN AUGURATION REP. DOMINICAINE.. C**A.. PTO. RICO.. HAITI". Pilot signed: B.L. Rowe. There is another Port Au Prince, Haiti postmark dated February 28, 1928. On the reverse is another West Indian Aerial Express cachet in blue and a Santiago de C**a, C**a machine slogan cancel dated February 28, 1928. This cover measures 165mm x 93mm.
