    Description

    The cutting iron is 1 3/4 inches, by 7 in long, and Stamped " R H REANEY" - WARRENTED CAST STEEL. The solid rosewood body is 2 9/16 wide, and 21 1/8th inches long. The mouth is 1 7/8th. It is 3in tall at the toe and 1 1/4inches at the heel. Issues: The original closed tote was broken away at the front, and somewhat loose in its socket. Screws were inserted up through the sole in an attempt to secure the handle. This could easily be undone. There is an old stress crack 6 or 7 inches running down the left side, of no structural significance. Nicks and chips have occured at the mouth, toe and heel. on top above the toe, minor wood damage has occured from tool strikes,( should have had a strike button!) Some have opined that this marvelous tool has Scandinavian origins, I don't know! In spite of all the issues, This wonderful tool will make a great restoration project and create wood shavings for another century!
