Wood tools a century or more old, may have dents, dings, scratches, age/shrinkage checks, and warpage. Anything significant will be noted and photographed.
The planes have been lightly cleaned, by hand, using a Scotch-Brite pad and B.L.O.
Rough edges have been file off the irons.
The toe is marked "J. KELLOGG AMHERST, MS" plus an owners stamp on both planes.
James Kellogg of Amherst, Massachusetts
made planes ca. 1840 to 1867.
The heels are both marked "No.63 7/8".
The irons are marked "XIII".
The planes are approximately 11-1/2" long, and cut a nominal 1/4" T&G.
Very few handled sets to be found, and in very nice condition, IMHO.
Irons will need to be sharpened, and soles may need truing if these planes are to be used.
The wedges and irons may be removed for shipping.
